I am somewhat puzzled as to how the Obama election has been, in some quarters, hailed as a “victory for liberals and progressives”. The fact that someone further to the right than Obama lost is, perhaps, to be noted but I see no reason to celebrate.
Some will point to the losses of the Republican “rape reps” and the election of an openly gay Senator.
