I’m introducing a new weekly segment called Fight Night Blog Fight. Where I will re-blog posts from two  authors about the same subject but from different political perspectives. I might enter the ring from time to time but mostly I want to see what other people in the blogosphere have to say about relevant political issues of the day. Ill pull out the most essential excerpt from the bloggers post and invite you visit their link to read more.  I post, You decide!

This weeks topic will be the Fiscal Cliff.  And in the blue corner. The Desert Beacon.

“The central question about the ‘fiscal cliff’ is whether or not  it becomes a stairway to heaven for the American middle class.  It’s a cliff if the Republican controlled Congress obstructs the negotiation process such that ALL tax breaks enacted during the Bush Administration expire — including those for those earning less than $250,000 annually.  It’s a stairway to heaven, if the Congress can agree to allow the tax breaks for millionaires and billionaires to expire, and retain the tax breaks for middle class families.”

And in the red corner. Atlas Shrugged Today

“The “Fiscal Cliff” is not a cliff, it is a phrase that is being used to prepare the political battlefield to beat the GOP into unpalatable and unnecessary concessions. It is not only not a cliff, it isn’t even a speed bump. My recommendation is not about burning the house down to make the Democrats look bad. Though I can’t help but note that their constituency gets hit much harder if we walk away than does ours. It is about the long term health of the nation. As the CBO points out, the economy will be stronger in the long run if no agreement is reached. We should listen to their advice and walk away.”
